The Fool

The Fool is the first card of the Major Arcana, however his number is zero. This is because he is the 'beginning'. The fool is totally pure. He is like a new born baby, he has never exposed anything bad. This is the start on your journey through the Tableau.

When you hear the word fool, what comes to mind? A jester or an idiot right? Well you can see that he is wearing a jesters uniform, but this doesn't mean what you think. The fool isn't stupid, he is just the absence of anything. He is a beginning, and a totally clean being.

You can see that he has a pack with him, this contains something, but we don't know what. Many speculate that this contains the artifact presented on the table in the next card (the Magician).
He is carrying a white rose, the symbol of purity, and he has a happy dog leaping at his feet. This is a happy time, without any negativity.

But as you know this must come to an end. Look, he is heading off a cliff. This symbolizes the beginning of a journey.

In the rest of the cards, they symbolize an event happening to the subject, or a person the subject should meet. The Fool on the other hand actually represents the subject him/herself.

At #0, the Fool is the card of infinite possibilities. The bag on the staff indicates that he has all he need to do or be anything he wants, he has only to stop and unpack. He is on his way to a brand new beginning. But the card carries a little bark of warning as well. Stop daydreaming and fantasising and watch your step, lest you fall and end up looking the fool.
